Senior Researcher in Bioinformatics Core Group at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) Dr. Patrick May is head of the Genome Analysis group within the Bioinformatics Core at LCSB. With his background in biology, computer science, and bioinformatics, having a PhD in theoretical biochemistry, he did his first postdoc at the Max-Planck-Institute for Plant Physiology in Potsdam, Germany. He started 2010 as an ISB fellow at LCSB working on whole genome sequencing projects in the Family Genomics group of Leroy Hood at the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, USA. His research focus is on whole genome and exon sequencing projects in human genetics of neurological and other diseases. He is leading genetic analysis for a family whole genome sequencing project funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation in collaboration with the Gladstone Institute in San Francisco, USA, on LRRK2 modifier genes in Parkinson’s disease. Within the NCER-PD project, he leads the Variant-DB project, a central genomic analysis platform for PD genetics in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health in the USA and the Parkinson’s Disease Genetics Sequencing Consortium. |
