Pearl Professor, Consultant Neuropathologist and Head of the Luxembourg Centre of Neuropathology (LCNP) at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB), the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), the National Health Laboratory (LNS) Professor Michel Mitelbronn is PEARL Professor for Neuropathology. He is Head of the Luxembourg Centre of Neuropathology (LCNP) that is located at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCNP), the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and the National Health Laboratory (LNS). His research on neurodegenerative and neurooncological disorders is supported by an Excellence Grant of the Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR PEARL). He joined the Luxembourg research landscape in January 2017 after heading diagnostic neuropathology and the clinical and translational neuropathology research group at the Neurological Institute (Edinger Institute) in Frankfurt/Germany for 8 years. Prof. Mittelbronn studied human medicine and neurobiology at the University of Tübingen/Germany followed by the specialization in neuropathology. His clinical and translational experience extends over 15 years with a special interest in clinical and translational neuropathological research, which resulted in more than 250 publications thus far (H factor 36). Prof. Mittelbronn is now also the head of the Department of Pathology at the LNS where also the clinico-diagnostic Unit for Neuropathology is located. He heads two research groups, one with a special focus on Parkinson’s disease at the LCSB and another with a focus on neurooncology at the LIH. |
